FROST Opera Theater Performances

Selected Shorts with Frost Symphony Orchestra

Frost Opera Theater students perform complete operas at a clip! Clocking in from one minute to five minutes, composer and Frost Symphony conductor Thomas Sleeper has applied his skill and creativity to a series of short operas, each a universe unto itself.  The program will also feature the short operatic classics of Hand of Bridge (Samuel Barber), Introductions and Goodbyes (Lukas Foss), and Hin und Zurück (Paul Hindemith).

Lully to Debussy 

Staged scenes drawn from the body of French historical repertoire sets the scene leading to Frost Opera Theater’s spring production of Massenet’s masterpiece Cendrillon (Cinderella).

Young Artist Series

Frost Opera Theater students return to the beautiful Bonnet House estate with opera excerpts in concert.

Cendrillon

The spring semester concludes with Jules Massenet’s imaginative operatic setting of the Cinderella story based on the 1697 French version by Charles Perrault.  Coinciding with a new production at the Metropolitan Opera in April 2018, Frost Opera Theater students will provide South Florida audiences the opportunity to experience this enchanting and popular opera.

Sung in French, with English supertitles, in collaboration with the Frost Symphony Orchestra.
