Title: Music at McBride concert series Performance Dates: January 23, 5:30 - 7:30 pm Location: Miracle Mile, downtown Coral Gables Repertoire: Repertory opera arias, duets, and trios Title: Flight by Jonathan Dove, Libretto by April de Angelis Ensembles: Frost Opera Theater and Frost Symphony Orchestra Performance Dates: February 27 and March 1 at 7:30 pm Location: Gusman Concert Hall Repertoire: Set in the departure lounge of an airport, this comedic and heartfelt opera tells the story of a group of passengers whose plane has been delayed by an electrical storm. This opera by Jonathan Dove, one of the most versatile composers of his generation, was premiered by Glyndebourne Opera in 1998 and his performed regularly nationally and internationally. Title: Frost Opera Theater Arias Performance Dates: March 28, 2:30 - 6:30 pm Location: Nancy Green Hall, Frost School of Music Repertoire: Repertory arias Title: Workshop development of a new opera-in-progress by Venezuelan American composer Reinaldo Moya and librettist, Venezuelan poet, writer, and translator Adalber Salas Hernández. Presentation Date: Wednesday, April 23, 3:30 pm Location: Nancy Green Hall Repertoire: This new music-theater piece will transport Dante's Inferno to a setting in the middle of the Venezuelan political, and social crisis. The work will incorporate Caribbean and Venezuelan musical styles, from salsa, merengue, joropo, etc. to create a sense of place and story that is distinctly Venezuelan in its sound, yet timeless and universal in its scope.
